New Family Orientation

There will be an orientation for new families on Monday, August 11 - information has already been sent to all new families from the Admissions team.  All new families, and any interested returning families, are invited to attend.

First day of school blessing ceremony – NEED CEREMONIAL OUTFITS

We will have an all school blessing ceremony beginning at 10:00 on Tuesday, August 12.  All students will need to bring a sarong and sash for this ceremony (full ceremonial outfits may be worn). For those new to Bali these needed items are readily available on the island and are essential items of clothing to own while living in Bali.  We will also have these items for sale at Orientation on the 11th.

The School Day

We begin at 8:15am each day and end at 3:15pm (Early Years will send additional information about pick up time). Please plan to have your child at school before 8:15am so that s/he can be present when class starts.  The beginning of the day is an important time for students to connect with their classmates and the teacher, and to be part of the morning rituals that set the tone for the day.

After school pick up:

School ends at 3:15pm and pick up should be planned for this time.  All students who are not engaged in a structured after school activity should be on their way home by 3:45 each day.  We do not provide after school supervision outside of organized activities and we ask that you support us by making sure transportation arrangements are made so that students are picked up by 3:45.  Students not involved with a structured activity, but who are accompanied by a parent who is providing supervision, may remain on campus as long as they are under the supervision of their parent.  Students may not remain on campus past 3:45 under the supervision of a driver or pembantu.  In the past this has proven to cause significant supervision issues for the staff on campus.

For students from Early Years to Grade 2, all children are escorted by their teachers to the Heart of School.  They will be supervised there until pickup.  If you or your driver is late, the children will be taken up to the library and supervised.  This is our duty of care but is not a baby-sitting service.  Please try to support our busy teachers by being there on time.

All students should have the following items:

*a bag or backpack to carry their belongings

Dress code

At Green School we want our students to be cool and comfortable, but not to be overly-casual.  We politely ask all students to be sensible and to use discretion with attire. We appreciate your support in sending your child off each day dressed appropriately for school, particularly making sure that clothes are not excessively dirty and/or torn (though we reserve the right to send them home dirty!).  Additionally we ask that you send your children to school in clothes that are free of media images or advertsising.  A few additional  notes:

*Footwear – Given the rugged nature of the campus, we recommend shoes with closed toes and backs.   Though students do wear flip-flops, they are not recommended for running around and outdoor use.

*Students must wear shoes at all times when walking around the campus, except in classrooms and Heart Of School.

*Physical Education Class (PE) – a change of clothing is essential for every PE lesson. Sun hat, PE shirt, sports shorts, and sports shoes are required.

*Hats – It is a requirement that hats are worn for outdoor activities including break times.

*Clothing advertising alcohol, cigarettes, and/or drugs are not permitted

*Special note for girls: Any female student dressing in excessively short shorts, thin strapped or low cut shirts, and/or any clothes that are unnecessarily revealing will be asked to change or put on a shirt or sarong provided by the school.

**Please label your children’s clothing for easy return!  Each year we donate large amounts of “lost” clothing to a local charity. While we feel good about donating to this charity each year, we’d prefer to return items to their rightful owners.

Lunch coupons

For those new to Green School we use lunch coupons when paying for lunch.  Lunch coupons are available for purchase at the welcome/concierge desk and cost 20,000Rp for Indonesian menu, 25,000Rp for International menu per meal.  You may purchase them individually, on a daily basis, or in larger quantities.

PE and Sports Kits

You may purchase PE kits (150,000) and/or sports uniform (400,000Rp) from School, please go up to the Staff Room – level 3 Heart of School above the library.  All new students will be assigned a house color during the first week or school and new families should wait to buy a PE kit until the house color is known.

First School Day is Tuesday!

We begin at 8:15am on Tuesday, August 12 (but it’s always best to plan to arrive by 8am to allow for unforeseen delays). Please come early so that you can meet your child’s new teacher(s) and so that you can be sure that your child arrives on time for the first day!

Schedule for first day:

Arrive at school by 8:15am.  School teachers and management will be welcoming all students.  New students will be escorted down to classrooms to meet their new friends and teachers.  At 9:00am, students from Grade 1-12 will be brought back up to the Mepantigan for a whole-school assembly.

We are looking forward to an amazing year ahead and we are thrilled you are with us!
